1. Eligibility
You must be at least 13 years old to create an account on BrightSprout. If you are between 13 and 18, you represent that a parent or legal guardian has reviewed and agreed to these Terms on your behalf.
Students under 13 may use the online solving features of the Site at the direction of an educator or parent, but may not create accounts without parental consent. See our Student Privacy Policy for details.
2. Your Account
You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials and for all activity that occurs under your account. You agree to provide accurate information when creating your account and to keep it up to date.
You must notify us promptly if you believe your account has been compromised.
3. Your Content
Ownership
You retain ownership of all content you create on BrightSprout, including worksheets, crosswords, word searches, bingo cards, flashcards, and other materials ("Your Content"). We do not claim ownership of Your Content, and we will not sell it.
License You Grant Us
By making content public on BrightSprout, you grant us a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to display, distribute, and promote that content on the Site — for example, by including it in search results, browse pages, and category listings. This license exists solely to operate the platform and ends when you remove the content or make it private.
For public content, you also grant us the right to process the content using third-party services (such as AI tools) for the purpose of generating or improving platform content. We do not process private content in this way. See our Privacy Policy for details.
Public and Private Content
You control whether Your Content is public or private, with one exception: worksheets published under the free tier are public. Privacy controls are available for all other document types and for worksheets published under paid plans.
Public content is accessible to other users and may appear in search results and browse pages on the Site. Some public content may be categorized as publicly accessible but not featured in search or browse results, at our discretion.
Your Responsibilities
You are responsible for the content you create and share on BrightSprout. By publishing content, you represent that you have the right to share it and that it does not infringe on any third party's intellectual property rights.
4. Acceptable Use

This list is not exhaustive. We reserve the right to remove any content and take action on any behavior that we determine, in our sole discretion, to be harmful, abusive, or inconsistent with the intended use of the platform.

We review all reports and may, at our discretion, remove content or restrict its visibility without prior notice to the content creator.
6. Copyright and DMCA

Upon receiving a valid notice, we will take appropriate action, which may include restricting the content's visibility and notifying the user who posted it.
7. Purchases and Subscriptions

9. Account Suspension and Termination
We may suspend or terminate your account at our sole discretion if we believe you have violated these Terms, including but not limited to repeated or egregious violations of our acceptable use or content policies.
Where practical, we will notify you of the reason for suspension or termination. However, we reserve the right to act without prior notice in cases involving illegal activity, imminent harm, or other urgent circumstances.
You may close your account at any time by contacting us at [email protected]. See our Privacy Policy for details on data retention and deletion following account closure.
10. Third-Party Links and Services
The Site may contain links to third-party websites or services that are not owned or controlled by us. We have no control over, and assume no responsibility for, the content, privacy policies, or practices of any third-party sites or services. Your use of third-party services is at your own risk.
11. Disclaimer of Warranties
The Site is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis, without warranties of any kind, whether express, implied, or statutory. We disclaim all warranties, including but not limited to implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, title, and non-infringement.

12. Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Crossword Hobbyist Inc., its officers, directors, employees, and agents shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of profits or revenues, whether incurred directly or indirectly, or any loss of data, use, goodwill, or other intangible losses, resulting from:
- Your access to, use of, or inability to access or use the Site
- Any conduct or content of any third party on the Site
- Any content obtained from the Site
- Unauthorized access, use, or alteration of your content or transmissions
In no event shall our total liability to you for all claims arising out of or relating to these Terms or the Site exceed the amount you have paid us in the twelve (12) months preceding the claim, or fifty dollars ($50), whichever is greater.
13. Indemnification
You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless Crossword Hobbyist Inc. and its officers, directors, employees, and agents from and against any claims, liabilities, damages, losses, and expenses (including reasonable attorneys' fees) arising out of or in connection with your use of the Site, your violation of these Terms, or your violation of any third party's rights, including intellectual property rights.
14. Governing Law and Disputes
These Terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the State of New York, without regard to its conflict-of-law provisions.
