  • 1950 - law passed requiring farmers to fence their livestock
  • A proper sewage system was not begun until 1927
  • Before electricity W.A. West was paid a monthly salary of $7 for lighting lamps in town
  • Brooksville Ice and Cold Storage Company organized February 9, 1906
  • September 29, 1877, the Hernando County Courthouse burned to the ground.
  • Brooksville’s first fire department created in 1912.
  • First hospital was opened in 1921 run by Mr. and Mrs. Boggess. -Boggess Hospital
  • A bigger hospital finally created in 1926-Hernando County General Hospital.
  • February 4, 1889 Hernando High School opens
  • 1969 - desegregation was complete.
  • Public Library finished on April 18, 1950
